'Cartogrophy of Darkness' is a transclusive, collective research platform dedicated to exploring universalisms and the unity of knowledge in our highly obfuscated, crisis-ridden age. The platform is comprised of a triad of spaces: a map, a repository and a periodical.

Elie Mouhanna

is an interdisciplinary art, design practitioner and pedagogue, predominantly working with artisanal textile techniques, text/image and voice/movement. Mouhanna’s fundamental interest lies in our need to assign meaning to things: the production, communication, and transfer of signs and meaning as a defining characteristic of the human condition—and the logistics, technologies, and ideologies that go into semiotic processes. He investigates forms as cumulative repositories of information and meaning, and is interested in the implications of their transmediation and their translation from the analog to the digital, and back. His research material include anthropology, linguistics, the religion of technology, and archeological and archival narratives. He currently works as adjunct faculty at the Lebanese American University.
