This is a call for students, teachers, artists, and all workers who keep cultural and academic institutions up and running to join the open global general strike for Palestine.

Cultural and academic institutions must not remain apolitical sites where our labor is continuously abstracted and commodified, and our historical struggles towards justice and liberation reduced to isolated events of fanatical violence. We are very familiar with the violent means that these institutions employ in order to increase our sense of alienation and have us question our capacity to be in solidarity and to organise with one another, as well as to collectively envision a better and brighter future for all. We know that even when they occasionally take heed of our existence, through their funding and conditional support, they do so only to snag our fight, to tokenize it, and to tame it.

Let our solidarity with the Palestinian struggle and its people teach us otherwise. Let us show them how defunct and dysfunctional their streets, art spaces, and university halls are without our labor.

This is not a plea for representation nor is it a play on whataboutism. This is a collective call for an act of radical decolonial care where our solidarity does not rest on words, as powerful as they might be. We need to materialise our collective care and solidarity in praxis, on the ground and in real time wherever we might be in the world. We know that our struggles are co-constitutive and not arbitrarily converging. When we stand up for Palestine, we are standing with all oppressed and dispossessed people across the world. We are contributing to the spirit of resistance against colonial, capitalist, and imperialist powers that are incessantly wreaking havoc on lives and livelihoods, presents and futures.

Gaza resists. Palestine resists. Liberation is imminent.

Invite your classmates and colleagues to this global strike and do not show up for work on Friday. Don’t open your cinema, gallery, or bar, postpone your talk, skip class, and leave the chairs unfolded. We refuse to continue our lives in the mundane while the world is watching a genocide continuously unfold in the present.

DO NOT SUCCUMB TO INSTITUTIONALIZED FEAR.

Cet appel s’adresse aux étudiant-e-s, aux enseignant-e-s, aux artistes et à tous les travailleurs et travailleuses qui font fonctionner les institutions culturelles et académiques, afin qu’ils se joignent à la grève générale ouverte mondiale pour la Palestine.

Les institutions culturelles et universitaires ne doivent pas rester des sites apolitiques où notre travail est continuellement abstrait et marchandisé, et où nos luttes historiques pour la justice et la libération sont réduites à des événements isolés de violence fanatique. Nous connaissons bien les moyens violents que ces institutions emploient pour accroître notre sentiment d’aliénation et nous faire douter de notre capacité à être solidaires et à nous organiser les uns avec les autres, ainsi qu’à envisager collectivement un avenir meilleur et plus radieux pour tous. Nous savons que même lorsqu’ils prennent parfois en compte notre existence, par le biais de leur financement et de leur soutien conditionnel, ils ne le font que pour s’emparer de notre combat, en faire un symbole perfomatif et l’apprivoiser.

Que notre solidarité avec la lutte palestinienne et son peuple nous apprenes a sortir de ces schémas. Montrons-leur à quel point leurs rues, leurs espaces artistiques et leurs salles d’université sont défectueux et dysfonctionnels sans notre travail.

Il ne s’agit pas d’un plaidoyer en faveur de la représentation, ni d’un jeu sur le whataboutism. Il s’agit d’un appel collectif à un acte de soin décolonial radical où notre solidarité ne repose pas uniquement sur des mots, aussi puissants soient-ils. Nous devons concrétiser de façon matériel notre prise en charge collective et notre solidarité dans la pratique, sur le terrain et en temps réel, où que nous soyons dans le monde. Nous savons que nos luttes sont concomitantes et qu’elles ne convergent pas arbitrairement. Lorsque nous défendons la Palestine, nous sommes aux côtés de toutes les personnes opprimées et dépossédées à travers le monde. Nous contribuons à l’esprit de résistance contre les puissances coloniales, capitalistes et impérialistes qui ne cessent de détruire des vies et des moyens de subsistance, des présents et des futurs.

Gaza résiste. La Palestine résiste. La libération est imminente.

Invitez vos camarades de classe et vos collègues à cette grève mondiale et ne vous présentez pas au travail vendredi. N’ouvrez pas votre cinéma, votre galerie ou votre bar, reportez votre conférence, sécher les cours et laissez les chaises dépliées. Nous refusons de poursuivre nos vies dans la banalité alors que le monde regarde un génocide se dérouler.

Dies ist ein Appell an Studierende, Lehrende, Künstler und an all jene, die den Betrieb kultureller und akademischer Einrichtungen aufrechterhalten, sich dem weltweiten Generalstreik öffnen für Palästina.

Kulturelle und akademische Einrichtungen dürfen nicht unpolitisch bleiben, wo unsere Arbeit kontinuierlich abstrahiert und kommerzialisiert wird, und wo unsere historischen Kämpfe für Gerechtigkeit und Befreiung auf isolierte Ereignisse fanatischer Gewalt reduziert werden.

Wir sind uns bewusst, wie diese Institutionen gewaltsame Mittel einsetzen, um unsere Entfremdung zu vertiefen und uns dazu zu bringen, unsere Organisationsfähigkeit und Solidarität zu hinterfragen – Faktoren, die uns davon abhalten, uns gemeinsam eine bessere Zukunft vorzustellen. Wir wissen, dass sie durch bedingungsgebundene finanzielle Förderprogramme zuweilen unsere Existenz zur Kenntnis nehmen, aber dies nur tun, um unseren Kampf zu behindern, um ihn zu symbolisieren und zu zähmen.

Lass uns unsere Solidarität mit dem palästinensischen Kampf und den Palästinenser*innen stärker zum Ausdruck bringen. Zeigen wir ihnen, wie wichtig und unverzichtbar unsere Arbeit für ihre Institutionen, Kunsträume und Universitätseinrichtungen ist.

Das ist keine Aufforderung zur politischen Repräsentation. ‘Whataboutism’ ist hier kein Argumentationsmittel.

Dies ist ein kollektiver Aufruf zu einem Akt radikaler dekolonialer Fürsorge, bei dem unsere Solidarität nicht auf Worten beruht, so mächtig sie auch sein mögen. Wir müssen unser kollektives Wohlwollen und unsere Solidarität in die Praxis umsetzen. Vor Ort und unverzüglich, wo auch immer wir uns in der Welt befinden. Wir sollen uns ins Bewusstsein rufen, dass unsere Kämpfe miteinander verwoben sind und nicht zufällig zusammenfallen. Wenn wir uns für Palästina einsetzen, stehen wir an der Seite aller unterdrückten und enteigneten Menschen in der ganzen Welt. Damit tragen wir zum Geist des Widerstands gegen die kolonialen, kapitalistischen und imperialistischen Mächte bei, die unaufhörlich Leben und Existenzgrundlagen zerstören und die vielen die Gegenwart und Zukunft nehmen.

Gaza leistet Widerstand. Palästina leistet Widerstand. Die Befreiung steht unmittelbar bevor.

Lade deine Klassenkamerad*innen, deine Kommiliton*innen und Kolleg*innen zu diesem globalen Streik ein und geh Freitag nicht zur Arbeit. Lass deine Kinosäle, Galerien oder Bar zu. Verschiebe deinen Vortrag oder schwänz den Unterricht.

Wir weigern uns, unseren Alltag fortzusetzen, während die Welt zusieht, wie sich ein weiterer Genozid in der Gegenwart unaufhörlich entfaltet.

LASSEN SIE SICH NICHT VON DER INSTITUTIONALISIERTEN ANGST ÜBERWÄLTIGEN.

هذه دعوة للطلبة والمعلمات/ين والفنانات/ين وجميع العمال والموظفين الذين يحافظون على استمرارية المؤسسات الثقافية والأكاديمية للانضمام إلى الإضراب العام العالمي المفتوح  من أجل فلسطين.

يجب ألا تظل المؤسسات الثقافية والأكاديمية مواقع غير مسيّسة حيث يتم تجريد عملنا وتسليعه بشكل مستمر، وحيث يتم اختزال نضالاتنا التاريخية نحو العدالة والتحرّر إلى أحداث معزولة عن العنف الممارس يوميا. نحن على دراية تامة بالوسائل العنيفة التي تستخدمها هذه المؤسسات من أجل زيادة الاغتراب والعزلة وجعلنا نشكّك في قدراتنا على التضامن والتنظيم مع بعضنا البعض، وكذلك على تصوّر مستقبل أفضل وأكثر إشراقًا للجميع. نحن نعلم جيّدًا أنه حتى عندما تهتم هذه المؤسّسات بوجودنا من حين لآخر، من خلال تمويلهم ودعمهم المشروط، فإنهم يفعلون ذلك فقط لابعادنا عن معاركنا وتحويلها إلى مسائل رمزية بحتة وترويضنا.

سيثبت تضامننا مع النضال الفلسطيني وشعبه أننا نستطيع كسر المعادلات القائمة. دعونا نريهم كيف تفقد شوارعهم ومساحاتهم الفنية وقاعات جامعاتهم معناها وفعاليتها بغيابنا.

هذه دعوة جماعية للانخراط بفعل جذري لإنهاء الاستعمار،  فلا بد ألا يقتصر تضامننا على الكلمات، رغم قوتها. نحن بحاجة إلى تجسيد وحدتنا الجماعية وتحويل تضامننا إلى ممارسة فعلية على أرض الواقع الآن، أينما كنا في العالم. نعلم أن نضالاتنا هي نضالات مشتركة ومتراصة. عندما نقف من أجل فلسطين، فإننا نقف مع جميع المضطهدين والمحرومين في جميع أنحاء العالم. فلنساهم في تعزيز روح المقاومة ضد القوى الاستعمارية والرأسمالية والإمبريالية التي تعمل باستمرار على إحداث الخراب في حياواتنا وسبل عيشنا وحاضرنا ومستقبلنا.

غزة تقاوم. فلسطين تقاوم. التحرير بات وشيكاً.

فلينادي كل منا زملائنا في الفصل وفي العمل الى هذا الإضراب العالمي ولنقاطع أعمالنا ووظائفنا يوم الجمعة. لا لفتح السينما، أو المعرض، أو الحانة، ونعم لتأجيل المحاضرات والمؤتمرات وصفوف الدراسة. نرفض مواصلة حياتنا اليومية بينما يراقب العالم الإبادة الجماعية التي ما انفكت تتفاقم في وحشيتها أمام أعيننا.

لا تستسلم للخوف المؤسسي.

هذا هو الوقت المناسب للتعبئة.
